Coccidiosis Control

Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria, which infect the intestinal epithelium of poultry, swine, and other livestock species. The resulting enteric damage leads to impaired nutrient absorption, reduced growth rates, and increased susceptibility to secondary infections, causing significant economic losses in intensive production systems. Effective control requires an integrated approach combining strict hygiene and biosecurity to limit oocyst accumulation, strategic use of anticoccidial drugs or ionophores, and vaccination programs to stimulate protective immunity.

Veterinary oversight is essential to ensure correct product selection, rotation strategies to prevent resistance, and compliance with withdrawal periods. Comprehensive coccidiosis management not only preserves gut integrity and animal welfare but also optimizes feed efficiency and overall productivity.
